Victorian Day- Willows

On Tuesday Willow class were transported back in time to experience what it was like to attend school in the Victorian era. The children were encouraged to dress up and we utilised Rowan classroom as our Victorian school.

We quickly talked about how we would all be pretending to be Victorians and then Mrs Smith got into character!

The children sat with boys and girls separated, and were told the school rules. We then did some handwriting practise (with our right hands only!), and recited our times tables, before going outside to do some drills.

For our break time we used only certain equipment (hoops, stilts, marbles) and the children were talking a lot about Samuel Wilderspin and how he brought more play into schools.

After break we split into boys & girls- the boys made a cup & ball game, and the girls made peg dolls.

We made sure to take many photos, including one with very grumpy faces!
