We believe that homework should be given to allow parents to be fully engaged in their children’s learning and to help children to consolidate their understanding of key areas and to follow interests. Homework is therefore set according to year group or class and can include spelling, maths and topic work. Often the outcomes are open ended, allowing for differentiation according to children’s ability. Guidelines are given to parents as to how much time should be spent with their child/children on homework, in addition parents are encouraged to discuss with their child’s teacher any problems they encounter while supporting their child with the homework.
