Friends of Little Milton School

The Friends fund raise throughout the year to provide much needed funds for the children of our school.

Current News:

We are raising money to fund our new playground equipment as well as many other projects such as whole class music lessons and school trips. We have a target of £7000 which we are gradually getting closer to but we need your support. More details will follow of how much more we need to raise!

On October14th we will be holding our first ever Bingo Night at the Pine Lodge in Little Milton and are looking forward to having as many people as possible from the school and village to support us. It promises to be great fun: an excellent chance to socialise and meet and get to know other parents. We are hoping that this will become a permanent fixture in our fundraising calendar!

Activities throughout the Year:

The Friends Committee aims to organise a major fund raising event each term in an effort to assist the school financially. We have had a busy past 12 months with numerous events including the Christmas Party, Spring Fayre, the Maypole evening as well as coffee mornings and other events.

Over the last year we were able to fund the children on school trips, not least a wonderful opportunity for our Year 5/6 children to go into London to see a performance of Warhorse, which supported their learning. All of the children had the chance to see the pantomime Aladdin in Oxford, in December and this too was courtesy of the Friends. It also tied in with our annual Christmas party, held at the Pine Lodge. The children had a fantastic time, not least thanks to Georgie, our children’s entertainer! The following day the Friends invited Father Christmas to visit all of the children to celebrate their last day of term!

During the Spring Term we held our annual Spring Fayre, at the Pine Lodge. We managed a variety of stalls, arts and crafts activities and games, with the older children being very enterprising and running their own stalls! The fayre was a great success, and raised a significant amount of money( £1500).

Another excellent event was our Maypole evening in July. The weather was delightful and a fantastic evening was enjoyed by all and once again we raised a substantial amount of money.

In recent years we have been able to use funds to support the children’s learning by purchasing new maths equipment and resources and, as always, dictionaries for our leavers. We have also financed the erection of a new ball fence on the perimeter of the playground facing the road. This has been of great benefit to the children during their PE sessions and playtimes and has meant fewer balls lost!

Events form the core of our fund raising, but activities on a smaller scale, like cake sales, make an important contribution, as does our membership of Easyfundraising, which enables our supporters to raise money for the school and get someone else to pay for it!  Every time you make an online purchase via the Easyfundraising website – which covers over 2000 online retailers – the Friends receive a percentage of the purchase price.  This has added valuable funds to the kitty and the Committee would like to encourage all parents and supporters to use this very simple way of helping us – and to mention it to friends and family.

Simply go to, register and add the site to your favourites for next time you buy anything online.  You can also raise money every time you surf the web – by registering at and using the site instead of Google – just make it your home page.

200 Club

The 200 Club, run by Mrs Austin, raises funds for school – and perhaps you! You can join in October each year and for only £12.00 a year you will be included in a monthly draw for cash prizes.  Half the amount raised from the sale of tickets is given away in prizes each month.

We need your help:

Don’t forget – all parents and families automatically become Friends when their child / children join our school and we welcome all support in any and every way! Please think about joining the committee or supporting events by giving the help needed to manage them on or before the day.

Please consider putting your name down on a list of helpers that we can call on when needed –please email or speak to any Committee member.  As always, all parents are welcome to Friends meetings – come along and let us have your views and ideas!
